1. Michigan State needs a fired up Miles Bridges

Miles Bridges went up for a layup on a breakaway in the second half and Chris Palombizio grabbed his arm to prevent an easy score. The announcers believed he was just “going for the ball” but Bridges didn’t feel the same way and words were exchanged between the two players.

Before this play, Bridges was having a rough game and the Spartans were struggling to pull away from the Golden Grizzlies. Minutes later, Bridges knocked down a big 3-pointer and was fired up. That seemed to light a fire under the team and carried them to a 13-point victory.

The Spartans came together and played a more motivated style of basketball. When the Spartans shake off the sleep-walking style and put inferior opponents away, it has to make Tom Izzo feel that much better.

Maybe the team figured out what it needs to avoid playing down to teams and that’s possessing a fired up Bridges. He played much better as did everyone else and Cassius Winston even admitted after the game that the team seemed to catch fire after the hard foul. Michigan State needs more fire from Miles.
