4. Tennessee Pututau, 4-star OLB (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Michigan State was one of the latest schools to enter its name into the race for four-star outside linebacker Tennessee Pututau from Salt Lake City, Utah.

The 6-foot-1.5, 260-pound outside linebacker from out west is more of a blitz specialist and can line up where the defensive end does and get after the quarterback. He plays near the line of scrimmage a lot and the staff could be recruiting him more as a defensive end than anything else.

However, there’s one thing that could hold the Spartans back from landing Pututau and that’s a potential two-year mission that he would need to take, which would make him part of Michigan State’s 2020 class instead. There’s always a chance he doesn’t take the mission, like Mufi Hill-Hunt a couple of years back due to injury.

The Spartans offered Pututau on Nov. 27 and he’s already taken an official visit. That visit could put Michigan State in a good spot to land the strong-bodied linebacker/end. He’s ranked the No. 336 overall player in the class and is the 24th-best outside linebacker. The Spartans’ top competition to land him is Utah and BYU.
