Michigan State football picked up a commitment from a dynamic player and Michigan’s Mr. Football on Saturday afternoon in La’Darius Jefferson.

With just a limited number of spots left in Michigan State football’s 2018 recruiting class, the Spartans picked up a commitment from Muskegon (Mich.) three-star athlete La’Darius Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.

Jefferson, a recent state title winner, announced that he would make his decision on Christmas Day, but with the number of scholarships remaining, he figured it’d be best to commit to the green and white while on campus Saturday.

Michigan’s Mr. Football picked the Spartans on Saturday over UCF and Indiana. He was once committed to Scott Frost and the Knights, but he de-committed due to the head coach’s uncertain future with the program. He has since been a Michigan State-lean.

Mark Dantonio landed his third straight Mr. Football from the state of Michigan following up Cody White from last year. Jefferson is listed as an athlete, but word is he was offered by Dantonio as a running back instead of his natural position of quarterback.

There’s always that chance he could play quarterback, defensive back or even linebacker at the next level, but for now, he will be with the running backs starting in 2018. He chose that over playing quarterback for the Hoosiers.

Jefferson is ranked the No. 451 overall recruit in the country and 11th-best in the state of Michigan, according to 247Sports. He becomes the 20th commitment in the 2018 class with a couple of spots remaining.
