4. Cassius Winston’s confidence is rising, and it’s infectious

After the game, Cassius Winston talked about how all of his hard work over the summer is paying off and that he doesn’t ever take a shot he doesn’t think he will make. That’s exactly what you want to hear from a star player as his confidence continues to grow.

Winston is averaging 13.3 points, 7.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game which are all up from last year. In fact, his points per game average is doubled from what it was as a true freshman.

The most important areas are his assists, turnovers and shooting percentage. His turnovers are up just a hair from last year (2.1 to 2.5 this year) but that’s because he’s averaging eight more minutes per game on the floor.

What else is improved? His free throw percentage is up eight points from 78 to 86, his field goal rate is up from 42 to 54 and his 3-point shooting has gone from 38 percent accuracy to 55 percent. He’s firing on all cylinders right now and his confidence is infectious.
