2. Michigan State continues to find ways to win close games

Rain, snow, sleet, wind, hail. Michigan State continues to find ways to win games despite the conditions presented to the Spartans. And no, the Spartans aren’t just winning close games in poor weather, but games like Iowa and Minnesota are prime examples — although the Minnesota game was soggy as well.

This team, although young, has matured unbelievably quick this season. A year ago, Michigan State was struggling to “find the inches” as Mark Dantonio would say. They would lose close games and be unable to hold on to leads.

So much has changed in a year. Now, Michigan State is holding on to these close leads and fans aren’t content with 10-point wins in the worst type of weather. The Spartans raced out to a 17-0 lead and basically held on for dear life as the snow continued to cover Spartan Stadium.

The sign of a good team is the ability to overcome adversity and win tight contests when it needs to. The Spartans have done just that and it’s what might take them from good this year to great next year. Only time will tell.
