Michigan State Football: 5 overreactions from win over Maryland in Week 12
3. After a big game, LJ Scott is as good as gone
Saturday happened to be the second-best game LJ Scott has had this season. He rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown on a career-high 29 carries and was able to return to his old form in the win.
Michigan State was able to run the ball far more effectively than it had through the first 11 weeks of the season, with the exception of the Minnesota game, picking up 271 yards and averaging 5.3 yards per carry as a team. Scott actually averaged less yards per carry than the team did, which is odd since he looked to pick up 5-10 yards each touch.
Either way, there are some who believe he has played himself into a top-three round NFL draft pick with the 147-yard showing. Is this true? Possibly, but he did post something on Instagram that made it seem like he might be returning.
It might just be him stating that there’s a chance he returns in order to keep the fan base content, but the consensus opinion is that he’s as good as gone.
