Offense: A-

While the defense and rebounding could use some work, the offense looked strong yet again. The Spartans haven’t had a tough time scoring the rock this season, but the only reason this is an A- instead of an A is because of the turnovers — 14, to be exact.

Turning the ball over has been an issue with this team through three games and must be cleaned up before conference play commences.

Although turnovers were a slight concern, the ball distribution was effective. In fact, the Spartans scored 33 baskets and had assists on 20 of them. That’s a good ratio and Cassius Winston and Tum Tum Nairn combined for 10. They fed the post early and often, allowing Nick Ward to have a monster game.

Also, the Spartans drew plenty of fouls and made 22-of-27 free throws.

Michigan State shot just 33 percent from 3-point land, but made up for it by hitting 58 percent of its shots from the floor. That’s what you call quality shot selection. Four of five starters scored in double figures showing that scoring was balanced.
