3. Michigan State will be turnover-free

Turnovers seem to be the death of this Michigan State team this season. Just look at the three losses.

First, the Spartans shot themselves in the foot against Notre Dame, turning the ball over a multitude of times, including once at the goal-line, causing a 14-point swing. Next, they fumbled a couple of times against Northwestern which foiled chances to extend the lead and an interception in triple-overtime sealed the loss. Lastly, Ohio State forced two picks from Brian Lewerke.

If Michigan State is going to win the game, it’s going to be because it holds on to the ball and avoids the turnover bug. Maryland isn’t exactly a stout defensive team, meaning that Lewerke shouldn’t have any major problems through the air.

While he won’t throw any interceptions and the Spartans won’t lose any fumbles, they will also force a couple of turnovers from Max Bortenschlager on the other side. Winning the turnover battle is the top key to victory, and the Spartans will do just that.
