LJ Scott has had a whimper of a season. He has rushed for 584 yards on 135 carries with five touchdowns. Maybe that is because the expectations have been unfair. The talent is there and jumps out on the screen or field. However, the running lanes have few and far between.

Moreover, Scott has had fumbling issues, which have stopped the past few games. Now as Michigan State enters the last two remaining games, it’s up to Scott if he wants his season defined by what could have been or by turning it around.

Maryland gave up 239 yards rushing to Rutgers with an average carry of 5.2 yards. Michigan State should be able to run on the Terrapins — Scott could be in line for a huge day. Although I would have thought that against other competition this season. Hopefully they will go back to some sweeps that worked well against Minnesota.

Scott is one of the most talented backs Michigan State has had since LeVon Bell, but who knows if he’ll go pro. Michigan State needs him to be at his best on Saturday.
