Michigan State basketball will have a fresh new look for the Phil Knight Invitational Tournament next week.
New year, new gear. Michigan State basketball will be flashing some new threads when it takes the court next week in the PK80, or Phil Knight Invitational, in Oregon.

The Spartans will join the likes of Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Carolina, Oregon and UConn at the tournament and each of those programs will be sporting new looks as well.

It’s not an eye-opening new look, by any means, but it’s definitely something that will draw some attention from fans who are always looking to buy the latest gear and apparel. The bronze numbers and letters are becoming popular with the Spartans ever since the Nike Pro Combats for football were featured a few years back.
No, bronze isn’t a tertiary color for the Spartans, but it may as well be at this point. Michigan State has featured this look in both football and basketball before with bronze-infused letters and numbers and this one looks the cleanest, in my opinion.

I’ve never been a huge supporter of the bronze, although I get the reasoning (Spartans and bronze go together like peanut butter and jelly), but this combination pulls it off nicely.

There will obviously have to be all-white alternates for these as Michigan State will face off against DePaul and then potentially Oregon, which would clash. It’ll be interesting to see if the white alternates, assuming there are some, have bronze lettering as well.
