3. We should be worried about the defense

The defense was absolutely gashed. It seemed like every time Ohio State touched the ball, eight yards were gained. It seemed that way because that’s exactly what happened. The Buckeyes averaged 8.0 yards per carry throughout the game.

Is it time to start worrying about the defense? Given how young the defense is, the answer is a big, fat no.

The Spartans are young in just about every position on defense. The middle linebacker is a sophomore, the two cornerbacks are underclassmen, the defensive line is freshmen and sophomore and the safeties are in their first year as starters. Growth is happening and everyone knew that growing pains are part of the process.

Through the first seven, or so, games, the Spartan defense was top-10 in the country. Over the past few, Michigan State has taken a slight step back, but they have faced off against some tough offenses.

No, we shouldn’t be worried about the defense as it will continue to get better with more experience.
