The Michigan State basketball season is finally here. With all the preseason hype and expectations, it’s about time this team tips off as fans were beginning to grow restless.

Tom Izzo has assembled arguably his best team since taking over as head coach 20-plus years ago. He has talent from top to bottom, even though the depth did take a slight hit with Kyle Ahrens’ foot injury. Chances are that he could miss the entire season.

However, guys like Miles Bridges, Jaren Jackson Jr., Cassius Winston, Nick Ward, Josh Langford, Gavin Schilling, Tum Tum Nairn, Matt McQuaid, Xavier Tillman and Ben Carter will provide plenty of depth as this team looks to win Izzo his second national title.

North Florida comes to town on Friday night following a 15-19 campaign in 2016-17 which ended in the Atlantic Sun tourney title game. The Ospreys just missed out on a trip to the NCAA Tournament and lost their two highest scorers from a year ago. This team should be no match for Michigan State, but anything can happen.
