4. Justin Layne, David Dowell, Josiah Scott each record an interception

A few Ohio kids heading back home to take on the team they watched as kids. Josiah Scott, Justin Layne and David Dowell now all start in the Michigan State secondary and have been successful, for the most part, this season.

In recent weeks, though, the Spartans have been gashed for big yardage through the air and I can actually see that happening again on Saturday against the Buckeyes, but these three will take advantage of a couple of tipped passes and one of the three picks will be a mistake on JT Barrett’s end.

The feeling of returning home and playing against the team that might have overlooked you (especially for Scott) in high school has to provide some motivation and it will end up in interceptions for these three Ohio natives.

The defense still has plenty of work to do, and it will be evident on Saturday, but you can’t knock their tendency to be opportunistic.
