3. Felton Davis III is the Big Ten’s best receiver

With his 12-catch, 181-yard performance on Saturday night, including a diving reception in the end zone after the 3.5-hour weather delay, Felton Davis III inched ever closer to tripling his career numbers from his freshman and sophomore years in just nine games.

You’ve read that correctly. The junior wide out from Virginia now has 586 yards in nine games and had just 200 total in his previous two seasons. He’s on pace to finish with about 800 yards in the regular season and he already has eight touchdown receptions and 45 catches — he had just 14 total and one touchdown heading into this year.

There’s no doubt he’s the most improved offensive player not named Brian Lewerke on the roster, but is he the best wide out in the Big Ten? That might be a bit of a stretch, but he could be in that top-five conversation. The Spartans faced one of the best, DaeSean Hamilton, on Saturday and he burned the secondary.

Davis III has 20 catches for 276 yards and three touchdowns in the last two games. Could this be the start of his rise to stardom?
