Michigan State football will face off against Penn State Saturday and we are full of bold predictions. Here’s what we’re predicting.

Who would have thought Michigan State would still be in the race for the Big Ten title nine weeks into the season? After what transpired in 2016, experts believed that Michigan State was nothing more than a six-win team. However, that has not been the case.

In fact, Mark Dantonio and the Spartans have exceeded expectations in just two months, going 6-2 through the month of October and beating Michigan in the process. Penn State, the No. 7 team in the country, will be waiting for Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday afternoon, though.

This game will have serious Big Ten East implications and a Spartan win would keep all title hopes alive with Ohio State next on the schedule.

Take a look at our five bold predictions for the Saturday afternoon showdown.

5. Trace McSorley has a big game

Unfortunately for the Spartans, Penn State got to watch the Northwestern game film and the Nittany Lions know the recipe for beating this Michigan State defense. Dinks and dunks in the passing game will eat the Spartans up, but Trace McSorley will execute them all game long and then burn the secondary deep after lulling them to sleep a couple of times.

Michigan State’s defensive backfield has been fantastic all season long outside of the fourth quarter against Minnesota and versus Northwestern. Penn State will have a field day through the air against the young Spartan defensive backs, but this will be a learning lesson.

McSorley won’t exactly put up career numbers, but he will have his way through the air, for the most part, passing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. It doesn’t help that Saquon Barkley is one of the best receiving backs in the nation.
