2. Tom Izzo lands first 2019 pledge

I’ve been predicting this one for months now, but I truly believe it will happen, especially with the start of the 2017-18 season commencing on Nov. 10. That will allow these 2019 recruits to head to campus on unofficial visits and see the atmosphere of home games at the Breslin Center.

The amount of talent in the 2019 class that is interested in Michigan State is intriguing. In fact, the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, Vernon Carey, could be extremely high on the Spartans as he even named them in his top eight list in October. He seems to love what he sees in East Lansing.

However, I don’t think Carey is anywhere near committing, although he could be a Spartan before it’s all said and done.

Guys like four-star shooting guard Harlond Beverly, five-star small forward Keion Brooks, four-star point guard Rocket Watts, four-star power forward Romeo Weems and four-star power forward Alonzo Gaffney are all high on Michigan State.

Who will commit first? My guess would be Beverly, Watts or Weems. There’s so much talent to choose from, Tom Izzo has to feel good about his future classes.
