4. Spartans will land another 2018 running back

Michigan State has landed just one running back commitment in its 2018 recruiting class but the Spartans have a limited number of spots left in the class to potentially add another. That’s one position of need as Michigan State didn’t add one in 2016 and Weston Bridges was the only 2017 running back — although Connor Heyward may have a future there as well.

With Elijah Collins already committed, Michigan State will land another back this month and it could be anyone from Raveion Hargrove, who has been rumored to be high on the Spartans lately despite not holding an offer, to recent Tennessee de-commit Lyn-J Dixon.

Dixon might be the highest-rated back still on the board as the Georgia-native is listed as the No. 285 overall recruit in the class and is considered a four-star. DeMarcus Townsend would be another interesting option but the three-star Florida-native may stay down south.

Harold Joiner seems to be completely out of the running as his official visit to East Lansing was canceled. One name to watch is Tariq Reid. The three-star running back from Davison, Mich., doesn’t hold an offer but could be a late addition, depending on who Michigan State misses on. He’s talented enough to earn a spot.
