2. Brian Lewerke approaches 3,000 yards, 25 touchdowns

If I were to make this prediction before the Northwestern game, I would have been called crazy. I did say in my October bold predictions that Brian Lewerke would get to 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, but I was slightly off on yardage and the touchdowns were not all that close.

However, I see a big month from Lewerke approaching. With the best game of his career under his belt and confidence on the rise, you have to think that only good things will happen for the sophomore quarterback moving forward. He has the arm talent and the dual-threat ability to make defenses sweat out every play.

For Lewerke to reach 3,000 yards — which I believe he will come just short of — in the final month, he will need to average about 300 yards per game. He will also need about 2.8 touchdowns per game to reach 25 scores. Still, I believe it’s possible, especially if he builds on the Northwestern performance.

I say he finishes with a solid performance against Penn State, ranked 25th against the pass, while taking a step back against Ohio State. He will finish the season strong with two 300-yard showings against Maryland and Rutgers. The final line will be in the territory of 2,800 yards and 23 touchdowns.
