Michigan State football will be in Evanston to take on Northwestern Saturday afternoon, but will both teams be at full-strength?

The 2017 season is rolling along and Michigan State football will take on Northwestern in Week 9, looking to improve to 5-0 in the Big Ten. The Spartans are looking to win their third straight road game in the Big Ten to start the season, which would be a heck of a run.

However, will the Spartans be at full-strength for the game? It’s not looking that way as there might be some key inactive for Saturday’s matchup.

Here’s the full injury report for both teams, according to the Detroit Free Press:

Michigan State: WR Brandon Sowards (ACL), OL A.J. Arcuri (undisclosed), out; DE Jacub Panasiuk (leg), TE Noah Davis (leg), TE Matt Dotson (undisclosed), questionable; WR Trishton Jackson (undisclosed), RB Gerald Holmes (ankle), probable

Northwestern: DB Brian Bullock (leg), DB Roderick Campbell (undisclosed), CB Keith Watkins II (knee), DT Jake Saunders (undisclosed), WR Solomon Vault (lower body), DE Xavier Washington (suspension), out

As you can see, Northwestern’s injury report may not have quite as many players as Michigan State’s, the Wildcats clearly have been hit more severely. In fact, there are eight Wildcats that have been ruled out and most are done for the season.

For Michigan State, it’s surprising to see Holmes still on the report and both Davis and Dotson at tight end could thin things out. Jackson is also back on the injury report despite playing last week and that could be a reason as to why he’s been struggling in recent weeks.
