Cody White looked smooth running routes and catching the pigskin last week. He has not played like a true freshman yet this season. He had a career day against the Hoosiers with six catches for 99 yards but he had made a few receptions before his breakout game and Michigan State will need more from him. He could be peaking at the right time.

The Spartans have been searching for a No. 1 receiver all season. Felton Davis III appeared primed to be that player against Iowa, even taking home offensive Big Ten honors that week. Darrell Stewart Jr. also was pushing for that No. 1 spot early in the non-conference schedule, but has been a no-show except for that tremendous catch against Michigan.

Trishton Jackson coming into the season was the player everyone assumed would be the man. Now that he’s a starter, White has found his opportunity to vie for the No. 1 receiver spot.
