. WR. Michigan State. WIDE RECEIVERS. B

Why did the receivers only get a B on Saturday? There were some big drops, but also mis-run routes. One of the obvious ones was a crossing route in the first half in which freshman tight end Matt Dotson ended up running into Rashard Fant and both left the field with minor injuries.

The tight ends were quiet, for the most part. Matt Sokol had a chance to catch a crucial first-down pass in the second half, but Brian Lewerke threw the ball too low and into the turf. Noah Davis did have a nice second-half reception and nearly picked up a first down, but was ruled inches short and left the game with an injury.

As for the receivers, Cody White had his coming out performance. The freshman wide out from Walled Lake, Mich., had six catches for a career-high 99 yards, including a big 34-yard reception in the fourth quarter to set up the back-breaking touchdown. He has strong hands and is uber-athletic. He doesn’t drop too many passes.

Felton Davis III, however, did have a tough drop early in the game but made up for it with a touchdown reception late to put Michigan State ahead. He had that reception and a 16-yard run on the day. Darrell Stewart Jr. and Hunter Rison also played well.

However, the corps couldn’t seem to get open quick enough for Brian Lewerke, but that’s credit to Indiana’s improved secondary.
