2. LJ Scott may have turned a corner

After struggling through five games, LJ Scott may have just found the turnaround game he was searching for. He rushed for a career-high 194 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries and looked like the running back everyone expected to see when the season began.

Even after fumbling the ball in the fourth quarter — for the fourth time in 2017 — Mark Dantonio showed faith in his talented junior running back, putting him back in on the subsequent drive. He finished with a few strong runs and a touchdown to put the lead back up to 17 points.

All night long he followed his blocks and found huge running lanes. He was more patient than he’s been all year long and showed excellent vision. He wasn’t running into piles like he had been through five weeks and he was rewarded for that patience.

This could be the game that makes his season trend upward. Just look at last year’s game-by-game performances. He broke 100 yards just once in his first six contests, but in the seventh game, he had a turnaround. This could be that same situation, just a year later. Eerily similar.
