4. Run game bounces back in a big way

Finally, Michigan State will piece together an adequate rushing attack, led by LJ Scott. You read that correctly, Scott will come back from injury in a strong way, rushing for over 100 yards and scoring a touchdown on a reception for the Spartans. Sure, that counts as the pass game, but any time a running back can catch passes out of the backfield, it opens up the run even more.

Holes will be opened wide for the running backs and Scott will find the creases for big gains. The offensive line really came together against Michigan even though the run game struggled in the torrential downpour.

When it was dry, the Spartans found running lanes, such as Madre London during his 50-yard run. Not blaming the rain, but it’s obviously easier to play for more yardage when the ball is dry and easier to hang on to.

Minnesota hasn’t quite faced three strong running backs like Michigan State’s this season, but the Spartans also haven’t fared well since the first couple of weeks.
