1. Final score makes game look much closer than it was

I’ve predicting a final score of 27-17 in favor of Michigan State, but I could see it more like 31-17 as well. Either way, the final will not be quite as convincing as the actual play on the field was. Despite allowing three first-half scores to the Gophers, Michigan State will clamp down and ramp up the pressure in the second half, completely dominating.

The offense will have a decent half as well, getting into Gopher territory a few times, but a missed field goal and some silly penalties to push the Spartans out of range will halt the drives. That would be three-plus more points, potentially, on the board for Michigan State.

So if the final score does wind up being 27-17, that would mean the Spartans could have potentially won by three scores with the points left on the field. Michigan State will completely dominate defensively in the second half and force Minnesota into a plethora of third-and-longs. Rhoda and that offense won’t know what to do.

In the end, Michigan State will get the victory and it doesn’t really matter how much they win by because it’ll be a 3-0 start in the Big Ten and 5-1 overall. Oh yeah, and they’ll be one victory away from bowl eligibility.
