4. Michigan State has first 100-yard rusher of the year

Finally, a 100-yard rusher for the Spartans. Michigan State hasn’t had a 100-yard rusher all year long which is shocking considering that’s how Mark Dantonio built this program back up. The term “pound green pound” was instilled in his players from day one, but through five games in 2017, they haven’t followed it.

Is it because of the offensive line’s struggles to open running lanes or is it the backs not being able to find the holes? Heck, it might even be the unimaginative play-calling by Dave Warner. No matter what it is, it will be forgotten on Saturday night when the Spartans finally field a 100-yard rusher.

Who will it be? I’m going to say LJ Scott comes back from injury and puts up his first monster game of the season. Brian Lewerke is always the top candidate, but Scott might be hungry after missing that Michigan game and struggling through the first four contests of the season.

Don’t count out guys like Gerald Holmes or Madre London, either. The latter has really come on as a surprise this season and could be playing for that No. 2 spot. But hey, a 100-yard rusher is a 100-yard rusher. The staff won’t care who reaches that mark, but it needs to happen, and it will Saturday night.
