Michigan State football will travel to Minnesota in a crucial conference bout. Here are five bold predictions for the Week 7 matchup.

It’s time to prove that the victory over Michigan was no fluke. Michigan State football travels to Minnesota in a big Week 7 matchup of two teams trying to prove themselves. The Golden Gophers are coming off two straight Big Ten losses and Michigan State is on the opposite side of the spectrum with two conference wins.

Despite the fact that the Gophers might be reeling, P.J. Fleck will have his guys ready for this game and it will be an 8 p.m. ET start under the lights in Minneapolis. Not exactly the friendliest of road games as no Big Ten night contests are.

Michigan State will need to block out any distractions and just get down to work to ensure that a letdown doesn’t happen. Take a look at our five bold predictions for the Week 7 game.

5. Spartans don’t turn the ball over for third straight game

Turnovers were the biggest issue for the Spartans through the first three games of the year. In fact, they had one of the worst turnover margins in the country, but that has changes since Big Ten play has begun. Michigan State has forced seven turnovers in conference play while not coughing the ball up yet.

That trend will continue against Minnesota. The Gophers are led by Conor Rhoda who has just five touchdowns with four interceptions. He hasn’t been great at protecting the ball, and he will be charged with a couple more turnovers again in this one.

Brian Lewerke is going to make smart throws and tuck the ball with two hands when he runs and approaches defenders. He knows exactly how ugly games can get when he coughs the ball up or throws into coverage. Fans will be pleased to see LJ Scott hold onto the ball all game long as well — he will even reach the end zone without coughing it up.
