1. Mark Dantonio’s still got it

Eight short months ago, people were beginning to wonder if Mark Dantonio had lost it. He seemed so out of touch after a 3-9 season and a subsequent offseason which rocked the program. There were fans calling for his job.

Did he lose his team a-la Bobby Williams? The questions seemed to be circulating regarding the 10th-year head coach who had just had his worst season yet, coming off a playoff appearance in 2015, no less.

To begin the 2017 season, he vowed to turn things around and right the ship. Those words were taken with a grain of salt because the team had lost a ton of talent in the offseason and it didn’t seem like there would be enough depth to even hang with the big boys in the Big Ten. We were all wrong.

After a loss to Notre Dame, questions began to creep up again. Is he over the hill? Can he hang with the big boys of college football anymore?

Two weeks later, those questions have been answered. Growing pains happen with young teams, he said. He also proved that with a tough, gritty win over Iowa and an even more tough and gritty win over Michigan at the Big House.

No, Spartan nation, Dantonio hasn’t lost it. Heck, he’s just beginning to reinvent himself to assimilate with the current state of college football. The next few seasons should be fun.
