1. Game comes down to final drive — again

Two years ago, Michigan State and Michigan met in Ann Arbor for an epic showdown. Both teams were vying for spots in the College Football Playoff, but the Spartans maybe had more on the line than the Wolverines in Jim Harbaugh’s first season as head coach.

The game looked to be over with 10 seconds left and Michigan forced to punt, but we all know how that ended. Michigan State won on the final play of the game thanks to a botched punt by Blake O’Neill.

Michigan State lost last season’s matchup, but the game got somewhat close at the end as the Spartans scored to make it 30-23, but a botched two-point conversion, making it 32-23, ended any hope of an onside recovery and last-second score to win for the Spartans.

This year, the game will once again come down to the final drive. The game will be a defensive one and the score will be somewhere around 17-17, or in the teens, and one of these teams will find a way to put the other away, and silence their rivals, with a score on the final drive.

Ah, what the heck. Sometimes bold predictions go against what you truly believe is going to happen (I’ve predicted Michigan by seven), but to go with the theme of these guesses, I’m going to say Michigan State wins on a field goal in the final minute. Yes, Matt Coghlin will be wind-milling.
