3. Michigan State will win 2/3 road games

The schedule in October isn’t an easy one for Michigan State, but each game is winnable. Yes, even the Michigan game, solely because Michigan State’s defense can take advantage of the Wolverines’ lackluster offense — although the Michigan defense is the best in the country and MSU’s offense is young and unproven.

Three road games in the month of October sit in front of the Spartans. The first is in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Oct. 7. It’s one of those games that could go either way because it’s a rivalry, but don’t listen to what Michigan fans tell you. This one will be closer than expected.

Minnesota would be the next road game on the schedule at 8 p.m. on Oct. 14. A night game in Minneapolis could cause some concern for MSU fans, but that should be a winnable contest for the Spartans. Minnesota just lost at home to Maryland which is down to its third-string QB.

Michigan State will come home to play Indiana the following week before hitting the road to take on Northwestern to end the month. The Spartans will win two of their three road games — I’m going with the latter two — which will help their postseason case.
