Michigan State Football: 5 bold predictions for October 2017
4. LJ Scott will average over 100 yards per game
Have I lost my mind? Probably, but there’s part of me that still believes LJ Scott can be one of the best running backs in college football. He proved it last season after a sluggish start to the year and maybe this slow start will lead to a scorching stretch of games.
Scott finished the month of September with 214 rushing yards and a touchdown. He averaged just 3.7 yards per carry and he should have three touchdowns by now, but he’s fumbled twice at the 1-yard line this season.
With tough defenses like Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern and an improving Indiana squad approaching, Scott knows he can’t be timid like he has been through the first month of the year. He needs to run with a purpose like he did in the second half of last season which is why he nearly reach 1,000 yards.
In the Spartans’ four October games, Scott will average over 100 yards per game and surpass the 650-mark on the season. He will need an equally as impressive month of November to reach 1,000 yards. Scott will get things going in October and people’s minds will be eased.
