Michigan State Football: 10 bold predictions for 2017 Big Ten play
8. Michigan State has three 500-yard receivers
The last time Michigan State had three receivers break that 500-yard plateau was in 2015 when Aaron Burbridge, Macgarrett Kings Jr. and R.J. Shelton did it. That was a scary trio of weapons at Connor Cook’s disposal and it helped the Spartans reach the College Football Playoff.
The Spartans have yet another talented trio of wide outs and it’s clear that they’re on the path to 500 each. Although none of them have broken 160 yards this season, there’s still potential on the field to break 500, and maybe even more.
Darrell Stewart Jr. is currently the team’s leading receiver with 15 receptions for 159 yards and a touchdown. Not related, but he’s also third on the team in rushing with eight carries for 100 yards. Felton Davis III has 12 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns and Trishton Jackson has eight receptions for 110 yards.
Those are the three favorites to reach the 500-yard mark, but I wouldn’t be surprised if guys like Hunter Rison, Cody White or Cam Chambers rose up to shock people and reach that plateau.
