2. Mark Dantonio’s seat is getting warmer

Wrong. I can’t even begin to tell you how wrong this overreaction is. After watching the game, it was apparent that nothing was on the coaching staff — except maybe the lack of press coverage against Notre Dame receivers.

People might be muttering things like “It’s time for Dantonio to retire” or “Fire Dantonio” which is utterly ridiculous. This is the same coach who made the College Football Playoff a couple of years ago and who beat Michigan and Ohio State on the road in that same season to make the Big Ten Championship.

Sure, after a 3-9 season, it’s easy to say a coach is on the hot seat, but he deserves a little leeway for how much he has accomplished in East Lansing. Before he got there, Michigan State was the laughing stock of the Big Ten and now the Spartans are perennial contenders. You won’t find anyone better equipped to lead the blue-collar program.

After one tough loss against Notre Dame where lack of execution and youth growing pains led to the defeat, Dantonio did all he could to conjure some momentum. His staff called the right plays, for the most part, and even mixed in some tricks.

Dantonio will retire a Spartan whenever he’s ready.
