Michigan State football had a convincing win in its opener and it was capped off with a Tyson Smith pick-six.
The future of Michigan State football’s Tyson Smith was uncertain after a stroke suffered during the 2016 season. Would he ever see the field again? Heck, he was lucky to be alive.

On Saturday, he played in his first game since that stroke and came away with a new lease on life. He played well against Bowling Green and looked like the cornerback people were expecting when he committed to the Spartans’ 2015 class.
Smith even made the play of his career, which was inspiring to those who knew his story, when he picked off a pass late in the third quarter, returning it for a touchdown. The crowd went wild. Just take a look at the inspiring play here:

Not every athlete has come away as lucky as Smith has after suffering a stroke, but he’s making the most of this second wind. It was quite the moment for the young defensive back from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary’s.

Mark Dantonio has to feel good about his team’s defensive showing on Saturday despite it coming against one of the worst teams from the MAC. The defense allowed just over 200 total yards and completely shut down the run. This was the biggest highlight, though.
