Michigan State basketball extended an offer to five-star 2019 shooting guard Tyrese Maxey from Texas.

Looking to get a head-start on the 2019 recruiting class, Tom Izzo offered a top junior prospect on Monday in five-star shooting guard Tyrese Maxey from Garland, Texas.

The Texas-native had just made the trip up north to check out East Lansing on Aug. 8 which turned into a two-day visit. He was expected to stay in East Lansing for a day and then visit Ann Arbor the next, but his MSU visit last slightly longer than the follow-up to Michigan.

Fortunately, the staff fell in love with the young guard who announced his offer on Monday evening via Twitter.

Maxey should jump up the Spartans’ 2019 wish list as he’s one of the top players in the entire class, and one of the quickest. Michigan State has landed a slew of forwards over the past couple of classes, so adding a quick guard like Maxey would be ideal.

Just imagine a backcourt with Foster Loyer and Maxey to go along with forwards Marcus Bingham Jr., Thomas Kithier and Gabe Brown. Throw in fellow 2019 target Romeo Weems and you have a young Big Ten favorite oozing with potential.

As you can see, this kid brings the ball up the court faster than many his age and could be the perfect addition to the Spartans’ backcourt.
