1. Luguentz Dort, 5-star SG (Orlando, Fla.)

You’re probably wondering why there are two prep stars from the state of Florida on this list since Izzo doesn’t exactly recruit that state much. The answer: neither are from the state but both are actually Canadian-born recruits. Luguentz Dort, and the aforementioned Barrett, were born and raised in Canada but came to Florida to finish their prep careers.

Dort, who has been trending lately, is a name to keep an eye on because it looks as if Izzo is serious about landing him and truly making a splash to close out the class. While the head coach doesn’t typically win these recruitments in which he entered the running late, he is making a serious impression.

In fact, Michigan State was the last to offer on May 4 and he has since released his top schools list, which did include the Spartans. He has spoken highly of Izzo and the program and even in Canada, he knew that Michigan State was a national contender each year.

The five-star has spoken of a potential visit to East Lansing since he hasn’t seen campus in person yet, and he’s even stated that it’s almost a guarantee MSU gets an official this fall.

Dort is a strong-bodied shooting guard who has extreme athleticism. He’s ranked the No. 27 overall player in the class as well as the third-best shooting guard, according to 247Sports. The Spartans will have to beat out favorites such as Oregon and Baylor for him while Indiana, Arizona State and Miami also made his top six.
