4. R.J. Barrett, 5-star SF (Montverde, Fla.)

A name that has surprisingly been added to the list of potential commits for 2018 is five-star small forward R.J. Barrett, originally from Canada, who is playing prep call in Montverde, Fla. The talented Canadian-born star was the No. 1 player in the 2019 class before reclassifying to 2018.

Now, he’s No. 3 overall and looks to be one of the most prioritized recruits in the entire class, especially since the time frame to recruit him has been cut in half.

Michigan State emerged as a potential suitor not too long ago as he stated that the Spartans had been in contact with him more of late. However, he is also high on Michigan and just about every high-major program in the country is after him. He’s an athletic freak who can take over a game on the offensive side of the ball.

Standing 6-foot-6, 180 pounds, he has a solid frame for the wing if he were to commit to the Spartans, which currently sits as a major long-shot. Michigan State needs wings in the 2018 class and he is the top-ranked one on the board, although not the highest priority.

Why isn’t he ranked higher on this list? It seems as if the staff needs to show more interest for that to happen. Right now, he’s probably the fourth option in the class despite being the most talented.
