Michigan State basketball is close to sewing up its 2018 recruiting class, but there are still five guys left on the radar.

Believe it or not, Michigan State basketball still has five guys left on the radar in the 2018 recruiting class. There may be just one or two spots left for scholarship players, but the staff is working to make a big splash to close out the class.

Currently, the Spartans have Marcus Bingham Jr., Thomas Kithier, Foster Loyer and Gabe Brown committed. All are four-star in-state prospects and all seem to be on the rise in the recruiting ranks. Despite having a solid four-man class already, Tom Izzo is looking to add a fifth, and maybe even a sixth depending on scholarships available.

Let’s take a look at the five remaining targets, ranked by order of presumed priority.

5. Duane Washington, 3-star PG (Grand Rapids, Mich.)

Quite possibly the most underrated recruit in the entire class, Duane Washington was a teammate of current freshman Xavier Tillman’s last season. The talented point guard from Grand Rapids, Mich., has yet to receive an offer from the Spartans, but it seems like it’s inevitable.

In fact, he keeps impressing during AAU ball this spring/summer and he’s one of those guys who stands out on the court, no matter who he’s playing against.

It’s shocking that Tom Izzo hasn’t extended an offer to Washington yet, but he’s just that far under the radar, apparently. He stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at about 180 pounds, making him the ideal size for the one spot in the green and white.

Washington can dribble, shoot, pass and create for himself and others. I’d like to see more tape of him defensively, but he looks to be an all-around solid player.

The three-star in-state guard is currently a Michigan-lean, since the Wolverines have offered, and ranks as the No. 226 overall player in the class and 43rd-best point guard in the country, according to 247Sports.
