3. Which incoming freshmen impress?

Michigan State’s incoming class hasn’t received as much hype as previous cycles, but that’s not to say the talent isn’t there. There is plenty to be excited about in the 2017 group although many look at it as a top-heavy crop of incoming freshmen unlike 2016’s lauded class.

It’s going to be interesting to hear about freshmen making bids for early playing time and you know Dantonio is going to be open to playing the best player, no matter how long they’ve been with the program — especially after last season.

Plenty of names come to mind when thinking about guys who could come in and play right away by making a splash in fall camp. Kevin Jarvis is an offensive guard to keep an eye on. He might just be the most college-ready freshman in the class and could start by year’s end.

Tight end Matt Dotson is another starter candidate. Hunter Rison could assume the R.J. Shelton role. Antjuan Simmons is a scary-good outside linebacker. Jacub Panasiuk, DeAri Todd and Lashawn Paulino Bell (if healthy) could all take advantage of a depleted defensive line.

Josiah Scott has already cemented a starting corner spot as an early enrollee freshman, but who else will step up? Don’t sleep on C.J. Hayes, Shakur Brown, Dominique Long and Cody White. Heck, Rocky Lombardi will be fun to watch at quarterback.
