Former Michigan State basketball star Bryn Forbes was egregiously snubbed from the All-NBA Summer League first-team.

Bryn Forbes had one heck of a Summer League showing. He led the entire field in scoring and looked the part of the next Spurs hidden gem. The former Michigan State star may just be facing an increased role with the Spurs this year after the dominant showing.

All opposing players and coaches witnessed his dominance and the respect was there as defenders were tasked with sticking to the slippery shooter like glue.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get enough respect from All-NBA Summer League first-team voters, as he only made the second-team after being the league’s top scorer.

Not sure how something like this happens when Forbes recorded the highest point total, which he matched in back-to-back games, of 35 and led the entire NBA Summer League field in points per game. It’s a shame that he was only given second-team All-Summer League for his dominant performances and just shows that big names take priority.

Former Michigan State guard Denzel Valentine, who also appeared in the Summer League this year, was openly curious as to how Forbes missed the first-team selection.

Valentine isn’t wrong, though. Forbes was robbed of a first-team selection, although he will still be treated the same way by his Spurs teammates and head coach Gregg Popovich this winter. More playing time is surely coming his way in year two.

Not many players were able to make such drastic improvements to their overall game and it seems like Forbes didn’t want to be tabbed as just a “shooter” so he went out and upgraded his handles and strength. He made a number of contested layups and made defenders look silly all Summer League long.

You can bet Forbes doesn’t care much about the accolades, though, and he just wants to be able to have an impact in the NBA this season.
