Michigan State football’s Big Ten media day representatives have been revealed as Gerald Holmes, Chris Frey and Brian Allen will be on hand.

With the annual Big Ten media days right around the corner, Michigan State football had to decide who to represent the program at the event. While these three guys aren’t necessarily guaranteed to be captains, it’s likely that they are considered team leaders by their peers.

Last year it was Riley Bullough, Josiah Price and R.J. Shelton who received invites to the event. Only one of those players turned out to be a captain during the worst season of the Mark Dantonio era.

Who will be representing the Spartans on July 24-25? The senior trio of Brian Allen, Chris Frey and Gerald Holmes will be on hand for Michigan State to answer questions for the media. All three have a solid chance of being named captain in 2017, and I recently predicted each one to earn the honor.

Being named a captain isn’t ever a given, even for the most deserving players. Heck, just ask Connor Cook what not being named a captain after three years of starting did for him.

For the second straight season, though, Michigan State won’t be sending a quarterback to media days, but instead a group of hard-nosed players.

While we are all suffering through SEC media day coverage, we can rest easy knowing that Big Ten media days are right around the corner. These guys should do a fine job of representing Michigan State.
