Michigan State basketball true freshmen Jaren Jackson Jr. and Xavier Tillman revealed their 2017-18 numbers via Twitter.

One of the more exciting moments of a young Michigan State basketball player’s career is receiving his official jersey number. That’s when things start to really feel official.

Michigan State has just two freshmen experiencing that preseason high this cycle, but both have a chance to impact the team greatly in 2017-18. Both Xavier Tillman and Jaren Jackson Jr. are highly-touted prospects and were recently gifted with their college numbers.

Xavier Tillman posted this picture on Twitter, revealing he would be No. 23 at the next level:

Tillman’s No. 23 is one of the most coveted numbers, worn by former Spartans Draymond Green, Deyonta Davis and Jason Richardson, most notably. He has some big shoes to fill if he’s going to live up to that No. 23 in the green and white.

A couple hours later, Jackson Jr. posted a better picture of him with his new number. He will be donning the No. 2 this season.

The last Spartan to don the No. 2 was Javon Bess who has since transferred from the program. Jackson Jr. is looking to have better luck with the number and many expect him to be the Spartans’ next one-and-done star.

Michigan State looks to have a wealth of talent in the post this upcoming season, flanked by the two true freshmen.
