1. Brandon Johns, 4-star PF, East Lansing (Mich.)

All has been quiet on the Brandon Johns recruitment front, but it’s only a matter of time before things start to heat up. The four-star power forward from East Lansing might look like more of a three on film, but he can play the three or four, and Michigan State will need him to be more of the latter.

Johns isn’t one to tip his hand, so don’t expect him to name any favorites yet, but he’s likely to trim things down soon and maybe set up some visits before making a decision in the fall. I don’t see this recruitment drawing out like the Brian Bowen one, but you never know these days.

Standing 6-foot-8 and weighing 206 pounds, he might not have the typical power forward’s frame, but with a little added muscle, he can be just what Izzo is looking for to complement guys like (potentially) Trevion Williams and Thomas Kithier in the post.

Also, the fact that he’s from East Lansing instantly give Michigan State the edge. He’s right in the backyard of the Spartans and that helps when it comes to visits and quick drop-ins from Izzo at his high school games.

The four-star forward is ranked the No. 48 prospect in the class and the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan for 2018, according to 247Sports.
