Seven Michigan State basketball recruits made the new 2018 ESPN top 100 on Monday. Who made the rankings?

If you’ve followed Michigan State basketball recruiting over the past couple of years, you’d realize Tom Izzo is putting in serious work. The veteran head coach wants to win that second national title badly and he won’t retire before he does so — or so it seems.

At 2016 Midnight Madness, Izzo even stated that he had some good years left in him. That should put fans’ minds at ease.

What else should put Spartan fans’ minds at ease? Just a quick glance at the updated 2018 ESPN top 100 rankings. There are six Michigan State targets in the top 100 and one commit. Although Thomas Kithier didn’t make the cut, Foster Loyer made a huge jump to No. 66.

East Lansing’s own Brandon Johns is No. 40, Joey Hauser of Wisconsin is No. 49, Belleville’s Gabe Brown is 86th and recently-offered Marcus Bingham Jr. is 98th. Two more Michigan State targets in the top 100 are Hameir Wright from New York, No. 80, and Luguentz Dort from Quebec at No. 24.

If all goes as planned and Michigan State has 5-6 scholarships to use, the Spartans could land 4-5 top 100 players in the country. Imagine that class coming in to replace guys like Gavin Schilling, Ben Carter, Tum Tum Nairn and Miles Bridges.
