Michigan State recruiting made the cut (top 11) for three-star 2018 cornerback Stanley Garner from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

It’s the season of ‘top schools’ lists as Michigan State is making the cut for multiple 2018 prospects, including three-star cornerback Stanley Garner from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Just a couple of weeks ago, he released his list of top 11 schools on Twitter, and it may have gone unnoticed by some seeing as he hasn’t exactly been on the radar. According to 247Sports, he doesn’t even hold a Michigan State offer, but he did, in fact, receive on this spring.

Besides Michigan State, the three-star cornerback listed Florida State, Clemson, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Miami, South Carolina and Louisville in his list of top schools. He received his offer from the Spartans on April 21.

A recent offer by Alabama could shake things up a bit as the Crimson Tide may have entered the race for Garner.

Although he’s ranked just No. 497 overall and as the 48th-best cornerback in the class, according to the 247Sports composite, his offer sheet is a better indicator of the type of talent he possesses. He stands 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, so he is already taller than most cornerbacks.

Garner is quick, always has his head on a swivel and he’s tough to shake. Receivers have a nightmare of a time, at least on film, trying to fly past him or even double-move themselves into an open pocket on the field.

Michigan State is attempting to bring back the ‘No Fly Zone’ and Garner is the type of talent who could do just that. Will he decide to head north to play for the only Big Ten school on his list or will he stay in SEC country?
