Michigan State recruiting made the cut for four-star 2018 running back Ronnie Walker from Hopewell, Va.

Michigan State has been somewhat of a running back factory over the past few years. First it was Javon Ringer, then Edwin Baker, then it was Le’Veon Bell followed by Jeremy Langford. Now, it’s LJ Scott taking the reigns with Gerald Holmes and Madre London backing him up.

Who will be next? Well, four-star 2017 running back Weston Bridges looks to be a solid option for the future of the Spartan backfield, but his backup could be 2018 four-star Ronnie Walker.

On Monday, the four-star running back from Hopewell, Va., released his list of top 10 schools and the Spartans may just have a fighter’s chance.

Of all the schools listed, Michigan State has had the most success in recent years while Northwestern, North Carolina, Duke and Virginia Tech are all up there as well. Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, Virginia and N.C. State bound out his top 10.

Michigan State offered the Virginia-native back in January and he has yet to schedule a visit, but that could be a major difference-maker. If he isn’t committed by the fall, you can expect an official to East Lansing as he will likely use unofficial visits for the local schools.

For a strong 5-foot-10, 190-pound back, Walker is quick and has enough burst to blow by would-be tacklers. He’s also shifty and has great vision. He has all the tools to be the next great Spartan running back.

Walker is listed as the No. 312 prospect in the class as well as the 17th-best running back, according to 247Sports‘ composite rankings.
