Michigan State recruiting has offered four-star JUCO offensive tackle Anthony McKinney from Iowa Western Community College.
Going the JUCO route isn’t for most college football programs, however, Michigan State is attempting to reel in one of the top offensive tackles from that level. The Spartans offered four-star Anthony McKinney from Iowa Western Community College.
McKinney is originally from Machesney Park, Ill., where he was unrated as a recruit and decided to go the JUCO route. He holds offers from the likes of Georgia, Houston, Louisville, Oklahoma, Oregon and TCU. The Spartans were the latest to extend a scholarship.
Unlike Unique Brissett II, McKinney is an actual player and is a freshman at Iowa Western. He is currently ranked the No. 7 JUCO recruit in the 2018 class as well as the third-best offensive tackle, according to 247Sports.
While it’s not always the best route to go, McKinney would fill an immediate need at offensive tackle if he were to commit to Michigan State as a JUCO transfer. He is considered one of the top at his position at that level and has experience against college-level athletes.
McKinney’s player profile at Iowa Western lists him at 6-foot-8 and 291 pounds, making him the ideal size for the position. That’s taller than most offensive tackles, but he could afford to add some beef to his frame as well.
The Spartans will hope to add a nice JUCO piece to the puzzle in 2018.
