Michigan State recruiting made the top seven of three-star linebacker Jeslord Boateng from Dublin, Ohio.

It’s the time of year when recruits from upcoming classes begin to narrow down their lists of top schools. Michigan State has been making lists left and right and on Wednesday, the Spartans made the cut for three-star Dublin, Ohio, linebacker Jeslord Boateng.

Michigan State looked to be in good shape with Boateng after offering him on May 10 and he has been somewhat blowing up since then. He’s been offered by Iowa, Pittsburgh and Minnesota since.

Kentucky, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Indiana and Louisville also made the cut for the three-star from Ohio. While it’s not the most prestigious list, it does go to show that his low three-star rating is a bit misleading. He’s not being courted by strictly MAC schools, but he’s looking at solid programs in the Big Ten and ACC as well.

Standing 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Boateng has decent size for the position, but could afford to add some muscle to his frame.

Boateng seems to be a blitzing outside linebacker with athleticism to boot. He also exhibits patience when blitzing, something you don’t normally see from linebackers at the line of scrimmage. He’s not quick to bite on a fake, rather he waits for the play to develop.

Boateng is ranked the No. 988 recruit in the class as well as the 72nd-best outside linebacker, according to the 247Sports composite. He has been gaining more attention on the recruiting trail in recent weeks.
