Michigan State recruiting may have taken the lead for three-star Ohio linebacker Jeslord Boateng after a recent offer.

After offering three-star Dublin, Ohio, linebacker Jeslord Boateng this week, Michigan State has jumped to the front of the line in his recruitment.

What makes the Spartans favorites, though?

According to Allen Trieu from Scout.com, Boateng’s relationship with the coaching staff already makes the Spartans one of his favorites.

"‘I know that they’ve always been a great football program and I know they have outstanding coaches that develop great talent,” Boateng said. “I have a great relationship with Coach (Mike) Tressel; we have been talking for about a year now, and it was really exciting that they offered me because I’ve wanted this offer for a while now.”“They’re definitely one of my top schools right now,” he said."

Boateng has received a number of offers since the beginning of April, reeling in scholarships from Syracuse, Colorado State, Rutgers, Iowa and Pittsburgh. The Spartans are still in great shape despite his recruiting uptick.

The outside linebacker is quick for his position and exhibits strength at the point of contact. He lines up on the line of scrimmage a lot, showing that he could use his athleticism to be more of a blitzing linebacker — somewhat like Ed Davis was.
