Michigan State recruiting stopped in on Tuesday night to see four-star small forward Romeo Weems from New Haven, Mich.

Tom Izzo is putting in some serious work lately. The Michigan State head coach is not only trying to finalize the 2017 recruiting class, but also look ahead to the 2018 and 2019 classes while remaining focused on the present.

The Spartans checked in one of the top targets in the 2019 class on Tuesday, four-star small forward Romeo Weems of New Haven, Mich.

According to Jeremy Warnemuende of 247Sports, the coaching staff stopped by on Tuesday night to check in on the four-star small forward.

Weems is the top player in the state of Michigan for 2019, according to 247Sports, and the No. 24 player overall. The Spartans are in good shape with him and were the first major program to extend an offer. Ohio State has since offered him as well.

It’s obvious that Izzo is looking to add to the wing position in the coming classes. The 2017 cycle has yielded the Spartans two bigs, 2018 has a point guard and a power forward and there are no commits in 2019 just yet. Weems might be top priority.

Weems stands 6-foot-6 and weighs about 211 pounds. He’s a do-it-all type of player that Izzo loves and was a stat sheet stuffer during his sophomore season with New Haven. He has been climbing the ranks lately and it’s only a matter of time before he’s a five-star prospect.
