Michigan State basketball now has the best odds to take home the national title in 2017-18 after the Miles Bridges decision.

Miles Bridges made one of the most selfless decisions in recent memory, announcing he’d be returning to Michigan State for his sophomore season. While the rest of the Big Ten is groaning due to the decision, the Spartans are currently in celebration mode.

No, nothing should be truly celebrated until a banner can be hung from the Breslin Center rafters, but with the best freshman to play under Tom Izzo returning, that is a good possibility.

In fact, Vegas is even jumping aboard the Michigan State bandwagon, driving it to the front of the line with Kentucky. The Spartans are tied for the top odds in the country to win the national title in 2017-18.

Heck, those were the odds before Bridges even announced he’d be returning, based on reports coming from Adrian Wojnarowski and others. So if you’re looking to place a bet on the Spartans, the ideal time may have passed.

That gives Michigan State the best odds in the conference, obviously, ahead of Michigan who has 20/1 odds. However, if DJ Wilson and Mo Wagner return, those could also improve. They have each decided to test the NBA Draft waters without an agent.
